Bolloré Energy supplies EDF Archipel Guadeloupe with B100 biofuel

Puteaux. 18 January 2024

In the final quarter of 2023, the Bolloré Energy teams won the tender put out by EDF Archipel Guadeloupe and have since shipped 300 m3 of B100 biofuel from mainland France to the archipelago of Guadeloupe.

This low-carbon fuel, marketed under the Koolza 100 brand, is produced using rapeseed oil from crops grown and processed in France. EDF is currently testing the fuel, which would lower greenhouse gas emissions from the Jarry Sud thermal power plant by at least 40%.

Julien Hérou

Deputy Head of Supply, Bolloré Energy

When we responded to EDF’s call for tenders, our aim was to use our solutions to offer them the best possible support with their energy transition. With Koolza 100, we are reaffirming our goal of being a key stakeholder in alternative solutions so that together, we can decarbonise the entire energy sector (including fuels for road vehicles, power and heating). And as our first overseas delivery, this contract is also a milestone for Bolloré Energy.

The product was loaded into 13 20-foot ISO tank containers upon leaving the Valtris Champlor production site in Verdun in eastern France. The Koolza 100 was then shipped from the port of Le Havre to Guadeloupe, a journey that took 24 days, including 12 days at sea.
